Northwest Nazarene University will welcome students back to campus beginning Friday, Aug. 27. New Student Orientation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with phased check-in throughout the weekend.
“We are excited to welcome students back to campus,” President Joel Pearsall said. “Last year, NNU was able to do what few other universities were able to accomplish—we were together in community, face-to-face, for the entire academic year in the midst of the pandemic. Drawing upon this experience, we are looking forward to providing students with the best, safest, in-person ‘NNU experience’ we can offer within the constraints of the reality we are facing.”
In preparation for students’ arrival, NNU’s COVID-19 Planning Team has updated their Health and Safety Plan. All faculty, staff and students are being encouraged to consult with their health care providers prior to making an informed choice about receiving all vaccinations, including the COVID-19 vaccination. Additionally, face coverings are recommended inside buildings and community members are being asked to participate in regular asymptomatic saliva screenings. Further details of the campus return plan can be found at nnu.edu/covid19.
“The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and neighboring community continues to be a top priority,” Dr. Bryon Hemphill, NNU director of health services, said. “We are continually monitoring the situation as well as recommendations from health professionals, the CDC and Southwest District Health to determine our best course of action as we respond to the ever-changing situation.”
