Biography: Dr. Heidi Curtis is an accomplished educator and leader who has dedicated her career to improving education for students and teachers. She graduated from Northwest Nazarene College in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education, and went on to earn a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the same institution in 2000. Heidi taught middle school English in the Caldwell school district and at Idaho Virtual Academy for twelve years then transitioned to eight years of administrator roles as the principal at Idaho Virtual Academy Middle School and then Idaho Virtual Academy High School. During this time, Dr. Curtis pursued further education, earning an Educational Specialist degree in Building Administration in 2011 and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership in NNU’s inaugural doctoral cohort in 2013. Since 2013, Dr. Curtis has been a professor at Northwest Nazarene University, where she currently serves as the Chair of Graduate Education, Director of the Doctoral program, and Graduate Faculty Vice Chair. In addition to her administrative duties, she is also active member of numerous committees and organizations related to education, including the Institutional Review Board, the Faculty Policy Council and the COVID Task Force. Her research has been published in various scholarly journals, she has presented at conferences both nationally and internationally, and was honored as NNU’s Graduate Professor of the Year in 2022. Dr. Curtis’s passion for teaching and leadership is evident in her many achievements and accomplishments. She is a role model for students and educators alike, and her dedication to improving education has made a lasting impact on countless lives.
