College of Education
The College of Education at Northwest Nazarene University offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in the preparation of educators.  Accredited doctoral degree programs lead to a PhD or EdD in Educational Leadership. Additional graduate programs lead to education specialist or masters' degrees.  NNU is the only Idaho private Educator Preparation Program to receive national accreditation through The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), and full approval of all programs by the Idaho State Board of Education.

Description of Position
NNU’s College of Education is seeking to fill a full-time, tenure track position (rank dependent upon experience) in Graduate Education beginning fall of 2022 with major responsibilities in teaching and supporting research in the doctoral programs. Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising between 6 – 8 dissertations and capstone projects
  • Teaching online doctoral and Education Specialist courses 
  • Advising doctoral students
  • Serving on doctoral committees
  • Engaging in research and scholarly endeavors
  • Developing online courses as required
  • Collaborating with colleagues in local schools, agencies, and the university
  • Providing meaningful service to the university, community, and to the profession

 

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in the area of educational leadership or related fields
  • Expertise in research, including quantitative research or statistical application
  • Established research agenda
  • Successful teaching experience
  • Strong interest in mentoring students throughout the dissertation process
  • Ability to work in a team 
  • The university requires that all candidates be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan traditions). Faculty must be comfortable with the mission and agree to live within the lifestyle values of NNU

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in educational leadership 
  • Experience developing and teaching courses in an online environment
  • Certificated K-12 teaching experience or experience teaching in higher education
  • Certificated K-12 or higher education administration experience

 

Compensation
Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of the candidate.
