Department of Intercollegiate Athletics 
Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) athletic programs compete at the NCAA Division II level.  NNU is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) which is comprised of the following ten members: University of Alaska-Anchorage, University of Alaska-Fairbanks, Central Washington University, Montana State University-Billings, Northwest Nazarene University, Saint Martin's University, Seattle Pacific University, Simon Fraser University, Western Oregon University, and Western Washington University.  NNU offers the following eight sports for women: basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, track & field (indoor and outdoor) and volleyball.  NNU offers the following seven sports for men: baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and track & field (indoor and outdoor).


Description of Position
The Director of Facilities and Events will be responsible for duties including, but not limited to

  • Event and game set up and tear down
  • Event and game management of officials, student workers, event staff, media, and guests
  • Hiring, supervising and training all student workers and event staff for work maintaining Athletics facilities as well as running events
  • Coordinating, scheduling, and supervising all athletics facilities for practices, athletic contests, internal University use, and external rental use (Asst. AD for Sales & Development will complete contracts and negotiate rentals)
  • Overseeing all NNU Athletics facilities and ensuring they are in good working order through routine walk-throughs and identification of needed repairs and improvements; overseeing completion of all facility work orders, repairs, and maintenance; and acting as liaison between NNU Athletics staff and coaches and NNU Facilities (Sodexo)
  • Maintaining a “master calendar” for the use of all NNU Athletics facilities  
  • Working closely with the Asst. AD for Sales & Development to facilitate game promotions and provide support for various events such as the annual golf tournament, student-athlete awards banquet, and Hall of Fame ceremony
  • Working with Asst. AD for Sales & Development to enhance and promote the attendance of students, faculty and staff, alumni, and the community business partners at athletic events
  • Promote and develop spiritual formation and leadership, academic excellence, athletic competitiveness, and community engagement
  • The Director of Facilities and Events works some nights and weekends and reports to the Director of Athletics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Related experience 
  • Sufficient skills, knowledge and training to perform the essential functions of this position
  • The University requires that all candidates be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU; candidates are asked to respond to the information items listed on the NNU Christian Mission requirements 
  • High motivation and commitment to the University, organizational skills, the ability to self-start, be calm under pressure, meet deadlines, work without direct supervision, multi-task, problem solve, and relate to a variety of personalities under diverse circumstances
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet applications 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Ability to obtain NNU driving certification
  • Offer of employment is contingent on successful results from a background investigation


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Operations and/or event management experience
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Experience in development and marketing

This position is an exempt, 11-month position starting at $32,832.  This employee will be offered access to a benefits package including health, vision and dental insurance for employee and family, life and disability insurance, flexible spending plan, tuition benefits, opportunities for professional development, and a retirement program.
