The university’s location in the southwest part of the state allows easy access to local ski resorts, mountain hiking, and river rafting. The proximity to Boise, the state's capital, offers cultural amenities such as the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra, Boise Master Chorale, Opera Idaho, Ballet Idaho, Riverside Jazz Orchestra, and the Boise Art Museum. The university is sponsored by the Church of the Nazarene. 

 

Description of Position
The Business Analyst reports directly to the Vice President of Finance & Operations (VPFO) and works collaboratively and strategically with the business office and campus personnel. This position provides high level, senior project management to the VPFO to review and manage University contracts, assist University personnel in the development of business plans, budgets and ROI financial modeling for new growth initiatives and ventures.  The position collaborates with the business office and campus on financial risk and liability matters, and provide detailed financial analytics as requested. The Business Analyst will provide support to the VPFO and Controller on projects such as budget formation, audits, new contracts, government funding programs, and assessment of University policy, procedures and controls. 

 

This is a year-round, full-time (1.0 FTE) salary-exempt position.

 

Essential Functions 

  • Review and analyze all University contracts, work collaboratively to negotiate contract pricing and terms, submit all contracts to VPFO for final approval following analysis and negotiations
  • Teach, imagine and design new business plans, provide direct resources and assistance to NNU leaders as they develop business plans for expanded academic offerings, new programs and investments, ensure business plans are thorough and complete, provide appropriate recommendations to the VPFO 
  • Track and report the progress of new programs and ventures, provide ROI details to Senior Leaders on campus
  • Manage and triage requests for annual capital expenditures
  • Prepare financial data and reports for VPFO, Senior Leaders and other constituents 
  • Analyze financial reports, provide clear and concise translation of the data (tell the story) 
  • Provide analytic data for liability and financial risk matters 
  • Assist with the application of government funded programs (such as PPP, Cares Act, Economic Relief Funds, federal grants, etc.), work with other departments to provide information, analyze and compile data, process applications and subsequent reporting
  • Collaborate with the VPFO and Controller on project assignments associated with the budget formation process, the annual audit, tax filings, AP processes, AR and debt collections, and other business office related duties
  • Serve in various assignments, committees and commissions

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or finance preferred
  • CPA is a plus, but not required 
  • A minimum of three years of experience in an analyst, financial compliance or related role, preferably with experience in a regulated industry 
  • Strong Excel experience required, and an ability to learn new software quickly
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, high engagement and self-motivation
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully create and nurture productive working partnerships internally and externally
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality

Compensation
Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant within a range of $50,000 to $65,000 per year.
