Description of Position
The Business Office is seeking applicants for a year-round, full-time, non-exempt position as an Accounting Analyst.  The Accounting Analyst carries out day-to-day financial, banking, and accounting responsibilities for the University. This position is responsible for daily banking analysis, reconciliations, and compliance with related federal and state regulations. 
The Accounting Analyst applies industry and professional standards which requires strong knowledge of general accounting, analytical competency, and professional skills. Which incorporates problem solving and decision making for university policy and procedures, federal and state laws, and other regulations.

Essential Functions 

  • Support the Controller in the preparation of federal and state tax returns.
  • Integrate reporting of the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, accounts payable, cashiering, student billing, and human/resource/payroll accounting modules within the ERP.
  • Investigate accounting discrepancies and payments to ensure proper posting in the ERP system.
  • Prepare and develop financial reports on an ad-hoc basis for internal and external constitutes. 
  • Ability to provide analytical support to the business office staff.
  • Prepare reconciliations related to banking, general ledger accounts, and financial transactions. 
  • Monitors and documents internal controls to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare, support, and defend fiscal audit schedules as directed by the Controller.
  • Compile data for the annual budget process, communicating with various departments in creation and review of reports from the ERP system. 
  • Reviews and modifies all Accounting Office procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Associates Degree in accounting, finance, or business related field.
  • Two (2) – Four (4) years of Accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency level of intermediate with Microsoft Excel.
  • Requires strong mathematical aptitude, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and analytical reasoning as well as strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external constitutes.
  • Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate strong decision making and judgment.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • All candidates must have a Christian perspective (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors in accounting, finance, or business related field.
  • Three (3) – Five (5) years of Accounting experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience using an ERP system.
  • Previous experience working in higher education.
