Digital Media

The Digital Media Major is an interdisciplinary degree geared toward giving students a broad platform for the ever-changing environment of media communication. The core requirements build a strong foundation of visual communication with areas of emphasis in Audio Engineering, Graphic Design, Marketing, Storytelling, Video and film, and Web Development. This major will live under the Department of Art & Design and work closely with the Departments of Business; Communication Studies; Language, Literature, and Cultural Studies; Mathematics and Computer Science; and Music.


In today’s ever-changing technological world there is a huge demand for skilled individuals to be able to create and edit information through a variety of media platforms. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, media and communication jobs are expected to grow six percent by 2026. By pursuing a career with a Digital Media degree, students may be able to find employment as a video editor, copywriter, social media manager, digital artist and content producer.
