About our AA Concentrations in Business and Accounting

Choose a concentration in Business or Accounting when you get your AA through NNU’s online business program (STEP). The STEP program is made up of two sessions every semester (also called “quads”). You will complete two classes during each quad, a manageable workload, when you have a job and other responsibilities to balance.
After completing your AA in Business and Accounting, you can transfer into NNU's online or on-campus Business programs. All credits from your AA will count toward an NNU Bachelors degree in Business, and will make your time to graduation shorter than going through a traditional program.

High-Quality Program

  • NNU’s College of Business is internationally-accredited by ACBSP, which means that NNU’s programs are regularly evaluated by this international organization. In order to maintain accreditation, The College of Business must constantly assess, evaluate, and improve our programs.
  • NWCCU is our regional accreditor, just like BSU.
  • Professors who teach in our programs have professional experience in accounting and business and use that experience to inform their teaching.
  • Faculty and staff are available to support students and willing to take the extra time to help each student succeed.
  • Our STEP program has been training professionals for over 25 years, and has a reputation for producing informed and ethical leaders.

College of Business Mission

The mission of the College of Business at Northwest Nazarene University is to educate students and develop them into ethical servant leaders who can transform a global society for the kingdom of Christ. We accomplish this goal by providing a strong, scholarly business curriculum rooted in the liberal arts tradition, which is delivered through traditional and innovative programs. To this end, the program is designed with the following values:
  • Students will receive the instruction necessary to pursue Truth and increase their knowledge across a range of contemporary business subjects including accounting, economics, finance, management, information technology, operations, international business environment, law, ethics, marketing and communication.
  • Students will engage in activities that foster Transformation and facilitate the development of relevant skills in the contemporary business environment. These skills will include teamwork, qualitative and quantitative analysis, written and oral communication, use of technology, and decision-making.
  • Students will be involved in activities within the Community as modeled by Jesus Christ through Service to others by applying concepts from business ethics, social responsibility, workplace respect, and biblical principles.

Personalized Process

Every student is unique, and every student’s path to degree completion will be unique as well. We know our students – their backgrounds, their goals, their life circumstances – and we work with them to create an education plan that suits their needs. When you join the STEP program, you’ll receive this individualized attention and see the difference it makes for your career.

Your NNU advisor will work with you to create an education plan that fits your goals. They will make sure you are on track to satisfy all the requirements and finish your degree. One of NNU’s core values is Community, and we seek to represent that to our online students just as much as our on-campus students.

Application Requirements

The following comprise our application packet:

  • Online application
  • Two letters of recommendation (sent automatically to your references when you complete the application)
  • Official copies of transcripts from any previous institutions
  • High school transcripts if transferring fewer than 28 credits

To learn more about NNU’s religious affiliation, please see our Statement of Faith.

SPOTLIGHT

I’m a double major in Business Management and Marketing. I think what attracted me to Business was that it just applies to everything in life. And especially the department here, the professors are just awesome people.
