Many of our Idaho alumni and friends are surprised to learn that the state provides an income tax credit to those who give to NNU. In fact, the law allows Idaho taxpayers to claim a credit worth 50% of the gift—up to $200 for those married filing jointly, or $100 for single filers. Regardless of whether you itemize your deductions or take the standard deduction, all Idaho taxpayers are eligible for the Idaho Education Tax Credit. EXAMPLE: Joe and Nancy Crusader find themselves in the 25% federal tax bracket and 7.8% Idaho income tax bracket. They give $400 to NNU before December 31, taking advantage of the Idaho Education Tax Credit. In addition to the federal and state charitable income tax deductions, they will receive a $200 tax credit from the state of Idaho.

Single alumni and friends find a proportional benefit—a $200 gift to NNU from a single Idaho tax filer in the 25% federal tax bracket and the 7.8% state income tax bracket will only cost $34. This is your chance to direct a portion of your tax dollars to NNU.
