Carey Cook
Dr. Cook received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Communications from Point Loma Nazarene University in 1988, his Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Albertson College of Idaho in 1992, and his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Idaho in 2002. Dr. Cook came to Northwest Nazarene University in 1993 as Director of Leadership Development in the Student Development area, and served in that role until 2001 when he assumed his role as Vice President for Student Development. Previously, Dr. Cook was a counselor and Case Manager for Starting Point Chemical Dependency Services (1992-1993) and Youth Pastor at Valley Shepherd Church of the Nazarene (1988-1990)
Samuel L. Dunn
Samuel Dunn is currently Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Business and Mathematics at Northwest Nazarene University. Dr. Dunn holds the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics as well as the MBA degree.
Before coming to NNU Dr. Dunn was Vice President for Academic Affairs at Seattle Pacific University, an institution he served for 26 years first as professor of mathematics and later in various administrative positions.
Dr. Dunn is a futurist, with special interests in futures related to higher education, religion, and technology. He is the author or co-author of several articles for The Futurist and Futures Research Quarterly. He is a co-author of two books on religious futures.
Fred C. Fullerton
Fred Fullerton is currently Vice President for Spiritual and Leadership Development and the Director of the Wesley Center for Servant Leadership at Northwest Nazarene University, a new cabinet position that was approved by the Board of Trustees in the spring of 2009. He is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and prior to assuming his current assignment, served as the Lead Pastor for nine years at the Wollaston Church of the Nazarene located on the campus of Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts. Dr. Fullerton is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University (Th.b, '77), Nazarene Theological Seminary (M.Div., '85), and in 2006 Eastern Nazarene College conferred on him the honorary Doctor of Divinity degree. From 1991-2000, Dr. Fullerton served as the Director of NYI Ministries, the youth department for the International Church of the Nazarene, where he led Nazarene Youth Congresses in Phoenix ('95) and Toronto, Ontario, Canada ('99) and travelled to 25 countries leading youth ministry training and preaching at global youth conferences. He has served as a trustee at Nazarene Theological Seminary and at the district level, chaired the New England District General Assembly Resolutions Committee and served as a member of the District Board of Ministerial Credentials.
Dr. Fullerton is no stranger to NNU. From 1988-1991, he served as Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministries, where he led the chapel services and worked with student leaders of the various ministry groups. He also facilitated mission trips with faculty to Mexico, Los Angeles, and Portland. He was an adjunct professor in the Christian education department at that time, where he directed the summer ministry intern program across the Northwest Region.
Joel Pearsall
Mr. Pearsall came to Northwest Nazarene University in 1999 after being in a private legal practice and non-profit management. Mr. Pearsall earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Accounting and Business Administration from Northwest Nazarene College in 1980, and his Juris Doctor from Willamette University's College of Law in 1983. Following law school, Mr. Pearsall served as Law Clerk to Chief Justice Charles Donaldson of the Idaho Supreme Court. From 1985-1994, Mr. Pearsall was in private practice in Salem, Oregon, (partner in the firm 1990-1994) specializing in business and tax law with an emphasis in employee benefit planning. In 1994, Mr. Pearsall assumed the role of Business Administrator for Salem First Church of the Nazarene, with oversight and supervision of all business matters of this large local church (over 1,000 weekly attendance). Mr. Pearsall is a member of the Idaho and Oregon State Bar Associations, is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court of Idaho, and serves on multiple civic committees. Mr. Pearsall served as NNU's Vice President for Financial Affairs and General Counsel from 1999 until July 2008 and was named Vice President for University Advancement in August 2008.
Dave Peterson
Mr. Peterson joined Northwest Nazarene University in 2008 as Vice President for Financial Affairs. He is a graduate of the NNU class of 1970, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
Mr. Peterson's career prior to joining NNU includes 17 years with Sears, Roebuck and Company where he held credit management positions in Washington, Oregon and Chicago, Illinois. He also worked 12 years for the Boeing Company as a financial planning analyst in the Commercial Airplanes Division.
Mr. Peterson brings significant experience in tuition-funded education, having served for 6 years as Director of School Business for a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade private school with 1700 students on two campuses.
Before joining Northwest Nazarene University, Mr. Peterson served the Washington Pacific District as an Advisory Board member and NNU Trustee.
