Description of Position
The Department of History and Political Science is seeking applicants for a half-time, nine-month, non-exempt Office Assistant II.

Supervisory/Working Relationships
The Office Assistant II position will work directly with and for the support of the chair, honors college director and faculty of the Department of History and Political Science. The Office Assistant II will report to the Department of History and Political Science chair.

Essential Functions
Assist with tasks related to the department and to the Honors College including, but not limited to:

  • General clerical tasks
    • Typing
    • Photocopying 
  • Greeting visitors to office suite and directing them appropriately
  • Budget tracking
  • Requisitions and invoices
  • Scheduling of meetings, appointments, and other activities
  • Assist with recruitment
  • Plan receptions and student functions
  • Web maintenance
  • Maintain a filing system needed to operate the office efficiently
  • Proctor examinations as requested
  • Place orders for films, books, periodicals for faculty
  • Run scantron exams
  • Order desk / exam copies
  • Oversee machine maintenance
  • Maintain paper supply, office supplies, etc.
  • Other duties as requested

 Minimum Requirements

  • High motivation and commitment to the University, including the ability to self-start, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision, tolerate ambiguity, be able to multi-task, relate to a variety of personalities under diverse circumstances, and be calm under pressure
  • Must be dependable, punctual
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented/accurate
  • Strong writing and grammar skills, and the ability to develop professional and business correspondence with minimal instruction
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and positively with students, faculty, and persons of the community
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and files
  • Knowledge of basic software (Word, Excel, Angel, web management system) and equipment operations
  • Applicant must be a Christian in agreement with NNU's mission and lifestyle standards

This position is a nine-month, .375 FTE, non-exempt position. The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of the applicant with a range between $9.30 and $10.50 per hour.
