Department of Mathematics and Computer Science
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at NNU has a long standing tradition of graduating secondary mathematics teachers, developing students for graduate school in mathematics, and preparing students for positions in industry.  The Mathematics and Computer Science Department services several academic sectors such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Nursing as well as having a role in the general education program of the University.  The Mathematics and Computer Science Department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics, Mathematics-Education, and Computer Science. 

Description of Position:
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenured track, faculty position in Mathematics with the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor to begin in the fall of 2010.  The teaching assignment will include lower and upper division courses in Mathematics and the possibility of graduate level courses sometime in the future.  While not required, it would be desirable to have someone with an emphasis in statistics or applied mathematics.  Other responsibilities include committee assignments and student advising and recruiting.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, a ABD candidate will be considered.  Strong candidates will possess proven ability in the classroom setting and will understand the teaching ministry as a Christian vocation.  They will demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with students and faculty.  The University requires that all candidates be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition) and must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU.  Candidates are asked to respond to the information items listed on the NNU Christian Mission requirements link below.  Northwest Nazarene University embraces diversity and therefore encourages all who are qualified to apply.

Compensation
The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant.
