Northwest Nazarene University (NNU), a comprehensive Christian university with a rich liberal arts tradition, is located in Nampa, Idaho. Department of Education
NNU's Department of Education offers both bachelor and master's degrees for the preparation of educators.  These programs maintain voluntary national accreditation through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and are approved by the State of Idaho.

Description of Position
NNU's Department of Education is seeking applicants for a full-time (11 month) faculty position to begin in August, 2010.  Primary responsibilities (essential functions) will be in the new online master's of Education program in Teaching and Learning and will include:

  • Serving as assistant program director
  • Assisting program director with the ongoing development and improvement of the online graduate level education courses
  • Assisting program director with the recruitment, training, and support of adjunct instructors to teach online classes
  • Provide technical assistance to adjunct professors and other program staff for online course management and design
  • Working with university webmaster to develop, maintain and continuously enhance website for graduate education programs and other online advertising materials
  • Assisting with marketing events and recruitment of prospective students
  • Teaching courses.  Teaching assignments could be graduate or undergraduate and could include both face to face and online instruction, depending upon one's experience, training and interests
  • Advising students on program decisions and action research projects.  
  • Other responsibilities include pursuit of a research agenda and service on university committees. Northwest Nazarene University embraces diversity and, therefore, encourages all who are qualified to apply.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned doctorate in education, certification in education, online teaching experience, and five years of successful teaching in elementary or secondary schools are required. Candidates must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.   • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Successful experience in educational leadership and /or professional development

Compensation
The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant.
