Northwest Nazarene University, a comprehensive Christian university, offers over 60 areas of study, 19 master's degrees in seven different disciplines and one doctoral degree. Department of Counseling Education
The Counselor Education Department offers a Master of Science in Counseling degree with three CACREP-accredited program areas: Clinical (Community) Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling, and School Counseling. The school counseling program is also under the requirements for NCATE accreditation. In addition to the three program areas, the Counselor Education Department offers an APT pre-certification preparation program in Play Therapy, and emphasis areas in Behavioral Health and Wellness, Trauma/Crisis/Grief Counseling, Addictions, and Play Therapy. The program operates a non-profit counseling clinic and an APT-approved play therapy center. The Counselor Education Department has seven full-time faculty members, and department faculty highly value working together as a cohesive, productive team. Description of Position
Northwest Nazarene University is accepting applications for a nine-month tenure-track, full-time Assistant or Associate Professor position. The candidate will teach in the CACREP core, provide clinical supervision, teach specialty courses if qualified, engage in scholarly activities, advise student research projects, and participate in university and professional service. Since the department functions as a team, the ideal candidate would have a passion for belonging to a department where faculty interrelate and collaborate on teaching, research, and service. In addition to the non-cohort program in Nampa, Idaho, the department also offers a blended program in Boise, a blended program in Colorado Springs, and a weekend (face-to-face) program in Twin Falls, Idaho. All faculty are expected to teach in the off-site cohorts upon occasion. The Counselor Education program is a vibrant program with a clear vision and an agenda for the improvement of rigor, as well as modest program growth. The start date is negotiable, but may include: August 2013, January 2014 or August 2014.
Applicants are required to have a doctorate degree in counseling from a CACREP-accredited institution. Candidates are also required to have had a minimum of three years of clinical experience. The University requires that all candidates have a Christian perspective (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with the lifestyle expectations for faculty at NNU. Preferred qualifications include an emphasis in school counseling or marriage and family counseling.
The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant.
