Northwest Nazarene University (NNU), a comprehensive Christian university, offers over 60 areas of study, 19 master’s degrees in seven different disciplines and one doctoral degree. In addition to its 85-acre campus located in Nampa, Idaho, the University also offers programs online as well as in Boise, Idaho Falls, McCall, Twin Falls and in cooperation with programs in 10 countries. Founded in 1913, the university now serves over 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students, more than 6,000 continuing education students, and 2,300 high school students through the concurrent credit program. NNU is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, and has been rated by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top master’s level universities in the west. The University’s location in the southwest part of the state allows easy access to local ski resorts, mountain hiking, and river rafting. The proximity to Boise, the state’s capital, offers cultural amenities such as the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra, Boise Master Chorale, Opera Idaho, Ballet Idaho, Riverside Jazz Orchestra, and the Boise Art Museum. The university is sponsored by the Church of the Nazarene.

Residence Life at NNU
Northwest Nazarene University houses approximately 700 students in six residence halls. The live-in staff consists of six Resident Directors and 32 Resident Assistants. NNU offers a progressive community development-based program, supported by strong educational programming and a student leadership emphasis within a Christian framework. Student development principles are taught to all staff and are used in programming, advising, and student conduct processes. The program is designed to empower students to be involved in the decision making process.

Description of Position
Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for the position of Resident Director for the 2015-2016 academic year. This is a 10-month assignment beginning August 1, 2015. The Resident Director position is a full-time, exempt position.

Essential Functions
The Resident Director is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of the student life program in Culver Hall, working with male freshmen students.  Culver Hall houses approximately 110 male students. Central to this responsibility is the creation of a living/learning community with the aid of Resident Assistants. The Resident Director supervises six Resident Assistants, and works under the direction of the Director of Residential Life. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • The University requires that all candidates be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan Tradition), and must be comfortable with, in agreement with, and able to represent the mission and lifestyle values of NNU to all constituencies.   • Ability to perform all essential functions of this position
  • Experience working with young people in groups and individually
  • Demonstrated supervisory, managerial, and listening skills

Compensation
Salary will be determined by educational background and prior work experience of the selected applicant. Resident Directors will be offered access to a benefits package including health, vision and dental insurance for employee and family, life and disability insurance, flexible spending plan, tuition benefits, retirement program, vacation, a two bedroom apartment for year-round use, and board for the hours the campus dining hall is open. No pets.
