Step 1: Apply and be Accepted to NNU
The first step to getting financial aid from Northwest Nazarene University is to apply for admission to the university. After you have applied and been accepted, the NNU Office of Financial Aid will review your application for admission, incoming GPA from all college transcripts and FAFSA (if submitted) to determine aid eligibility. If you have already applied and been accepted to NNU, please proceed to the next step.
Note: Your Application for Admission also serves as your application for Financial Aid at NNU, there is not a separate institutional form for this.
Step 2: Complete the FAFSA
Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year is an important step in the financial aid process and must be completed by the student and/or parents and sent to the Federal Processor after January 1st. The FAFSA can be submitted online by signing with a PIN number assigned to the student and to the parent. Apply for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
NNU encourages you to complete your FAFSA by March 1st. The FAFSA helps NNU to determine a students need and eligibility for federal funds typically used for the Fall and Spring semesters, August through May (for example, a 2014-2015 FAFSA could be used for classes between August 2014-May 2015). Some aid may be available for the summer, contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information.

Step 3: Complete the Following Steps for Financial Aid
Watch the mail starting in March for your Financial Aid Award Notification.
If your FAFSA information was chosen for verification, please submit required documents to the Office of Financial Aid. Follow the instructions on our verification worksheet for the status that applies to you (either dependent or independent ) and turn that worksheet and any required documents in to the Office of Financial Aid as soon as possible. Please be prompt in responding to any requests for information from the Office of Financial Aid. If verification is not complete prior to the last day of enrollment, federal aid eligibility will be lost.
If you plan to borrow Federal student loans and have not borrowed previously, you need to complete entrance counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) online at www.studentloans.gov. Sign-in with your student FAFSA PIN number. Students who borrowed a federal student loan in the last year do not need to complete these steps.
