Course Evaluation Process
Beginning in Autumn of 2002, Northwest Nazarene University implemented a revised course evaluation process after two years of experimentation with pilot revisions. Under the leadership of a Taskforce chaired by Dr. Glena Andrews, the University piloted an internally-developed course evaluation form, and assessed the usefulness of a course evaluation process offered by the University of Washington. In October of 2002, the Taskforce recommended adoption of the University of Washington course assesment process. Beginning in November of 2002, University academic secretaries received an orientation to the 5 forms adopted by the University, and in the process for distribution and collection of the forms. In December of 2002, faculty of the University participated in the first administration of the form, at the level of 85-90% participation across all schools. The course evaluation process is one element of the faculty evaluation process, which includes the expectation that faculty present summaries of their course evaluations, comment on trends across multiple forms for particular classes, and indicate areas of strength and steps they will take to address areas of lower performance
