• A Freshman Honors course is available at NNU for qualifying students.  The course consists of four quarters, each team-taught by two NNU faculty from different departments.  The theme of the course is Western Intellectual Traditions and involves a significant amount of reading, writing and class discussion.  Interested students must complete an application to be accepted.

Study abroad programs
• Students at Northwest Nazarene take advantage of many study abroad opportunities.  The Council for Christian Colleges and Universities offers eleven programs of varying length that NNU students can participate in around the world.  From The Scholar’s Semester at Oxford to the Los Angeles Film Studies Center to the Middle East Studies Program, there are a variety of options to suit any student’s interests.  NNU also endorses some additional programs through sister universities and some other off-campus groups.  In addition, NNU sponsors a variety of short-term study abroad opportunities, missions trips and foreign travel specific to department and major.

Library facilities
• The NNU Riley Library has 120 thousand books plus many full-text books on-line.  Material is available 24 hours a day from the internet.  The library can provide almost any item from surrounding libraries through the interlibrary loan system.

Available internships
• Many majors have the option of completing internships.  Elementary and Secondary Education majors must complete student teaching internships.  These are set by an Education faculty member.  The Business Department and Communication Department also require internships of their students.  These are arranged by the individual students in a field of interest with suggestion and supervision by the faculty in that major.  Social Work, Nursing, Religion, Recreation Sports Management, and Pre-Physical Therapy all require some form of internship or field experience.  Professors will help students in these areas find the appropriate placement.
