Centennial 5K supports Nampa Family Justice Center

October 12, 2012, 1:31 pm

NNU’s Psychology Club (Psi Chi) has partnered with the Nampa Family Justice Center to host the NNU Centennial 5K Run/Walk on Sat., Nov. 10 at 2 pm. The event, featuring a one mile walk and a two and a half mile run, will start and finish in front of the Johnson Sports Center, 311 E. Dewey Ave. in Nampa.

NNU and Psi Chi hope to raise awareness for the Nampa Family Justice Center (NFJC), which is a partnership of agencies dedicated to ending family violence and sexual assault through prevention and response by providing comprehensive, client-centered services in a single location. Funds raised will be used for special projects, and a portion of the contributions will aid in establishing endowed scholarships for current and future NNU students.

Contributors are encouraged to form teams to run, walk, roll or ride for 100 miles during the next year. The final two and a half miles (5k) of the extended 100 mile undertaking will be completed at next year’s Homecoming & Family Weekend.

Participants may register online at www.nnu.edu/centennial5k; the fee is $15. By registering, runners and walkers support the NFJC, and those registered by Nov. 1 will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Registrants will also be eligible for prizes earned throughout the year that will be awarded at next year’s walk/run event.
