Campus called to week of prayer and fasting

September 24, 2012, 12:56 pm

SGA Spiritual Life Director Kaylee Bunn invited students, university staff and faculty to a week of prayer and fasting last Monday during Community Chapel.

A creative, student-produced video clip preceded the beginning of chapel and set the stage for Kaylee’s invitation.  Motivation for this effort began during LEAD Retreat prior to the start of classes. Student leaders expressed interest in keeping the prayer focus that emerged last year under the leadership of senior Ben Heidegger. The level of participation was up to each individual. One meal a day or more could be fasted and evening sessions of worship and prayer were scheduled in the Perk. Several faculty and administrators attended these sessions and student turn out was strong. The fasting concluded early Friday morning before classes with a time of praise, prayer and communion in the Prayer Chapel.  Kaylee’s father, Pastor Tim Bunn of the Eagle Church of the Nazarene, led the celebration of Holy Communion.
