Northwest Nazarene University pitcher Zeb Sneed was selected by the Kansas City Royals this afternoon in the 11th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

The junior right-hander from Twin Falls posted a 7-4 record with a 5.00 ERA for the Crusaders this spring, leading the staff in wins, games started (12), innings pitched (66 2/3), and strikeouts (61). He was the 2010 GNAC Freshman of the Year, and was an Honorable Mention selection this spring.

“We are excited for Zeb and proud of his accomplishments thus far,” commented NNU head coach Tim Onofrei. “We are looking forward to following his professional career.”

“I’m extremely proud to get a chance to further my baseball career professionally,” Sneed commented this afternoon. “I am blessed to get this opportunity.”
