Faculty emeritus Dr. Powers to lecture
In conjunction with Homecoming celebrations, the NNU School of Science and Mathematics will present a guest lecture by faculty emeritus Dr. Leon Powers Friday, Nov. 5. Dr. Powers will discuss his new book, The Forgotten Expedition, detailing the lost journals of the 1907 biological expedition into Idaho and Oregon.
An Idaho native, Dr. Powers earned degrees from Northwest Nazarene University, University of Idaho and Idaho State University. In 1974, Dr. Powers returned to NNU where he taught biology for 35 years. Since 1983, he has been a beloved professor for introducing students to southwest Idaho’s population of hawks, eagles, falcons and owls during a week-long Birds of Prey class.
Members of the community are welcome to attend. The presentation will begin at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5, and will be located in the Brandt Center Grand Lobby 707 S. University Boulevard, Nampa.
