Homecoming Walk/Run Provides Scholarships

November 7, 2009, 2:00 pm

Northwest Nazarene University will host its third annual Homecoming Walk/Run Saturday, Nov 7 at 1:00 p.m. Runners and walkers can choose a one mile walk/run or a competitive 5k route, both of which begin and end at NNU’s Johnson Sports Center, 313 E. Dewey St.

Proceeds raised by participant pledges will provide need-based scholarships to supplement financial aid packages. All pledges and contributions are tax deductible and can be allocated to any new or existing approved scholarship. Additionally, for every entry form received NNU will donate one dollar to Northwest Children’s Homes Syringa House, a local community charity.

The public is invited to race with NNU alumni and friends for a $7 entry fee, which includes a t-shirt.  Participants are encouraged to arrive at 12:30 p.m. for check-in and t-shirt pick up. Attendees will hear from President Alexander and a Northwest Children’s Homes Syringa House graduate during the opening ceremony at 12:50 pm. More information and registration forms can be found online at www.nnu.edu/homecoming under Walk/Run 2009, or by contacting Glena Andrews at glandrews@nnu.edu.
