Homecoming Auction Offers Something for Everyone
Dating back to Thanksgiving weekend 1948, homecoming at Northwest Nazarene University has had warm and rich traditions showcased in drama, music, athletics and organized class reunions.
One of the longest-running traditions is the auction that gives homecoming attendees the opportunity to directly benefit current NNU students. The live and silent auctions feature a variety of items for all ages, interests and budgets. The silent auction begins Fri., Nov. 6, and ends Sat., Nov. 7 in the Brandt Center lobby, and the live auction will take place Sat., Nov. 7, at 9 a.m, also in the lobby.
Whether you’re a sports fan, an outdoor adventurer or just looking for something to do on the weekend, the auction has plenty of items to bid on. Sports fans can choose between a football signed by Ohio State Buckeyes running back Archie Griffen, and a baseball autographed by Hall of Famer Willie Mays. Those seeking outdoor adventure can bid on a three-day Alaskan salmon fishing trip for two with men’s basketball coach Tim Hills, a one-week vacation home on the Oregon Coast, or a flight for two with Nampa Mayor Tom Dale as your pilot. Other experiences that you can bid on are a dinner for six at President and Mrs. Alexander’s home, two skybox tickets for the BSU v. U of I football game, or an 18-hole golf outing for two with Greg Bullock and President Alexander. Apart from these large items, the auction will feature many more items, from antique science equipment to the all-famous Jo Kincaid pies. The exciting live auction and extensive silent auction gives all participants an opportunity to directly benefit NNU students through scholarship donations.
