Sports Ministry Intern

DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Developing and implementing a sustainable plan for this ministry on a yearly basis.
Recruitment of volunteer coaches, referees, etc.
Extensive advertisement to area schools and communities.
Establishing liaisons with schools and parks to use their facilities.
Lay the ground work for a second season of sports outreach.
Developing a summer camp sports VBS program.
Follow-up with families that attend.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

The Ideal Candidate has a desire to reach families through sports.  A call to ministry is preferred, but not required.  This intern will have strong organizational skills, a background in athletics, and a love for kids and their parents. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of internship.

Developing and implementing strategies for reaching and assimilating new children and families.
Developing and implementing strategies for meeting the needs of existing children and their families.
Coordinating and supervising special events and activities.

The Ideal Candidate has a desire to walk with teens as they navigate Middle school and High school.  He/she will also be deeply invested in an intergenerational approach to ministry.  A calling to youth ministry, or pastoral ministry in general, is important. The internship program offered by the Denver Rescue Mission is two-fold.  First to help students, adults, and individuals gain experience in both the non-profit, human services, and ministry fields.  Our internships are designed to be hands on, challenging, and productive.  Our goal is to help interns grow spiritually, professionally and educationally so that they are equipped for a lifestyle of service in the name of Jesus Christ.  The second side is for the intern to help the Denver Rescue Mission accomplish its goals.  We are an organization of 165 employees but with the help of interns and volunteers we provide the work of almost 250 employees! DESCRIPTION

Perfect for those with an interest in journalistic writing to write for a publication. The work can be done from campus, as long as the student has access to e-mail and Skype and a high-speed Internet connection.   able to assign stories for the interns, who would conduct interviews with missionaries and other mission workers overseas in order to write news, feature articles and profiles. An editor would offer critique and helps that would give interns valuable experience and mentoring in the field of journalism. Well-written stories would be published in our magazine online, providing the intern with a published portfolio of work.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

Primarily interested in students who have taken at least one journalism class, or students in the English or Religion departments. It would be helpful to see writing samples from potential interns.
