Spring Break: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Trip Description: A team will go to Vancouver, BC Canada to work in the downtown Eastside with Mission Possible. Vancouver BC is one of the most diverse cities in North America.  Mission Possible is working to create community among and with those living in poverty.  This team will be involved in relational ministry.  This trip will provide an opportunity to be present with, to listen to and learn from those who live in poverty.   Check out the website for Mission Possible to learn more about their incredible ministry-- www.mission-possible.ca

Note: Art Students might especially find this trip significant.  Mission Possible has an art studio for its community in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. Students with interests in art could get involved in this project.

Northern Ghana

Dates:  May 12-June 4, 2014 (24 days)

Cost: $2250 plus airline ticket (estimated at $1700-$1800)

Estimated total Cost: $3950*

Trip Description: A team will be traveling to Northern Ghana to work with the Church of the Nazarene.  The  team has 5 spots open for general students and 5 spots open for Healthcare students.  Travel will be rigorous but the experience will be formative. This team will partner with local leaders in ministry with a focus on ministry to children and youth and health education.    
 
Number of Participants: 10 students: 5 non-major specific students, 5 nursing students

*The price of the Ghana airline ticket will be determined by mid-January when we finalize the team's air travel.  This is our best estimate based on fall airline prices and fuel surcharges. Port-Au-Prince, Haiti

Dates: May 13- May 29, 2014 (16 days)

Cost: $1575 plus airline ticket (estimated at $1000)

Estimated Total Cost: $2575*

Trip Description:   Students will be hosted by Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF) missionaries. Hope Home is an orphanage for disabled children in Port-au-Prince. This team will have opportunities for the following: help the kids with physical therapy and special education activities, assist in bead jewelry making, help with general upkeep of the property. This team will also spend time with Adoration Christian School doing a variety of projects to help with the maintenance of the building. Painting, cleaning, and general repairs may be needed.

Medellin, Colombia

Dates: Tentative May 12- May 30, 2014 (16 Days)

Cost: $1500 plus airline ticket (Estimated at $1000)

Estimated Total Cost: $2500*

Trip Description: We will partner with El Seminario Biblico De Colombia. Students will spend time listening and learning about the culture and history from seminary professors and students. It will be a mutual learning and serving trip. The ministry piece of this trip will largely depend on the abilities and skill sets of its members. Possible ministry and service opportunities include the following: Teaching math and science at a local public school, organizing a week long writing and reading program for the seminary run public library, playing soccer, organizing a basketball tournament, prison visit opportunity for male students, partnering with Colombian students on general maintenance projects around the seminary, and partnering with pastors in ministry with local churches.
