2013 Mission Trips

Dates: Spring Break Tentative March 24-31

Cost:  $750*

Trip Description: A team will go to Vancouver, BC Canada to work in the downtown Eastside with Mission Possible. Vancouver BC is one of the most diverse cities in North America.  Mission Possible is working to create community among and with those living in poverty.  This team will be involved in relational ministry.  This trip will provide an opportunity to be present with, to listen to and learn from those who live in poverty.   Check out the website for Mission Possible to learn more about their incredible ministry-- www.mission-possible.ca

Cost: Estimated $3900*

Trip Description: A team will be traveling to Northern Ghana to work with the Church of the Nazarene.  The  team has 5 spots open for general students and 5 spots open for Healthcare students.  Travel will be rigorous but the experience will be formative. This team will partner with local leaders in ministry with a focus on ministry to children and youth and health education.    
 
Number of Participants: 10 students: 5 non-major specific students, 5 nursing students

Trip Description:  Armenia has a rich heritage of Christianity; the country formally adopted Christianity in the 4th Century.   It’s people have suffered through wars and genocide.  They were once a part of the Soviet Union and under communist government.  This will be NNU’s first opportunity to send a team to this country.  The Armenia  team will travel to several locations  focusing on light construction projects and youth ministry.  The team will partner with Nazarene leadership in outreach within the local communities.

Trip Description:  Most of us have heard about Jamaica as a vacation destination.  This mission trip will show a different side of Jamaica!   This will not be a vacation!  Instead you’ll get to spend 3 weeks living within the tension of a booming tourist industry alongside great poverty and challenge.  Students will serve alongside the Church of the Nazarene in West Jamaica.  Likely a combination of light work projects and youth/children’s ministry.  More information is forthcoming.

Trip Description:  Students will travel to Northern Bangladesh where they will work along Child Development Centers.  Students will be involved in children and youth ministry.  Also, students will learn about various development projects supported by Bangladesh Nazarene Mission. This team will  look for  strategic ways NNU can partner with the ministry of Bangladesh.  

Number of participants: 10 students max, students from a variety of majors will be needed

Dates: Tentative May 27-June 24 (4 Weeks)

Cost: Estimated $2400 Plus airfare (estimated at $2000)
 
Trip Descriptions:   All majors are welcome but this trip may not be for any and everyone.  Must be highly relational, ready for anything and  flexible in areas of time, productivity and western worldview.  Most of your time will be spent in Kununurra, Western Australia and likely working with the people who are indigenous to Australia.   There will be combination of work projects and relational outreach.  Essentially...be ready for anything! You will be working alongside Kenny Wade (former Youth Pastor at Boise First Church) and local Australian leaders to help encourage and develop the Church of the Nazarene in a rural area.

An interview and extra training will be required for this experience.
