DESCRIPTION | Responsible for the health, safety, and varied camp program for youth & teens. Each counselor is responsible for one cabin group, the development of and assistant counselor, the camp program and the upkeep and inventory of equipment. Camp staff make available a program that features outdoor living, citizenship training, and democracy. It includes fun and adventure, cooperative planning, group living, social adjustment, improvement of health, enrichment of family living and relationships, and YMCA values – caring, honesty, respect & responsibility. |
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS | Minimum high school graduate or 18 years of age by June 1; CPR and First Aid Certification |
DAYS/HOURS | Seasonal (June 4 - Aug 18) and Camp schedule is Mon - Sat (some weekend shifts) |

POSITION | Counselor - Adventure Camp (Traveling) |

DESCRIPTION | Responsible for the health, safety, and varied trip program for participants. Each camp staff member is responsible for the development of the program along with the upkeep and inventory of equipment. Trip counselors are responsible for implementation of adventure program on traveling camps including, safe and sustainable camping practices, activity instruction and practice and teaching of the YMCA core values – Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. |
REQUIREMENTS | Minimum 21 years of age, Wilderness First Responder certification preferred, CPR, Lifeguard and First Aid Certification, Previous trip leading or extensive personal wilderness experience required. Knowledge and skill in working with all ages (11-15 specifically) in a positive leadership role, providing guidance, and instruction of various outdoor activities. Current driver's license and must meet YMCA driver qualifications. Must be completed prior to June 1, 2012. |
SALARY/BENEFITS | $300-$340 per week plus room and board |
DAYS/HOURS | Traveling adventure camp schedule includes 2 weeks paid training and 4 trips (6 weeks total). Alternative program employment may be available during summer. Camp schedule is Mon-Sat. Some full weekend shifts may be required. All camp staff receives a 24 hour time off period every 7 days. |

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS | Preferably an applicant who has high school varsity tennis playing experience. Good organizational, planning and motivational skills. Coaching experience is not required but would be preferred. A strong desire to work with high school students and good communication skills. |
DAYS/HOURS | The season is from 2/24-5/8. Practices will be held daily from 4:45-6:00 p.m. Matches are held one or two nights a week beginning in March. There are two Saturday matches that our JV will also attend. |
