Special Education Teacher

DESCRIPTION

Within the limits of law, board policies and regulations, administrative rules, and instructions from the Superintendent of Schools or designee, the special education teacher is responsible for providing instruction to students and assisting parents with instructional strategies and resources to support special education.  The goal of the position is to ensure that every student acquires proficiency in the knowledge and skills identified by the Idaho State Board of Education adopted standards.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

3 years teaching experience, excellent organization and communication skills, any extra certifications, experience with online course management software such as Moodle or Blackboard

Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.

An Idaho Exceptional Child Certificate with a Generalist Endorsement (Special Education)

Three years experience in special education.

Proficiency in the use of online programs to communicate and instruct such as: Microsoft Office Suite, Excent Tera, AIMSweb, Moodle (Blackboard, Angel or some other) and Skype.

Such other qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Experience working with a wide range of special needs students.

Familiarity with state mandated tests including the alternate versions for students with disabilities.
