DESCRIPTION | Generate and write stories for broadcast on-air and for the Internet, report on a variety of topics, shoot news stories and edit videotape. Drive station vehicles, including live trucks, to news scenes. Must be willing to set up live shots without assistance and troubleshoot issues in the field. Lift camera and associated equipment, write, videotape and edit news stories in all forms. Operate broadcast camera equipment in a wide variety of weather conditions. |
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS | High School diploma required; college degree in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, or Communications preferred. |
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and on-air delivery skills, including ability to report live on-air clearly and succinctly. Strong news judgment, knowledge of legal issues for newsgathering, photography, and reporting. Candidate should have high-level writing skills for both broadcast and Internet copy. Excellent presentation and reporting skills, including ability to generate hard news story ideas, conduct interviews, and shoot stand-ups unassisted. Must be able to shoot and edit videotape or have enough exposure to editing basics to learn this skill quickly. Knowledge of television news photography will include ability to light scenes for shooting and interviewing in all situations. Candidate must possess ability to gather information and conduct interviews in the field and on-scene at breaking news events. Must work with producers to create on-air news stories on multiple topics each day. Sound knowledge of current events, criminal justice procedures, courts, government, and ability to develop active list of sources and story leads essential. Ability to meet tight deadlines on multiple newscasts is required. Working knowledge of Spanish language helpful. | |

DESCRIPTION | Supervise all facets of 4 radio station cluster: sales, programming, marketing, product development, and budgets Oversight of 2 Local Sales managers for maximum sales results. Position radio stations with sales team to over-deliver ratings and share. Develop incentive sales plans, maximizes the stations' commercial inventory by knowing how to use a yield management rate card and achieving the highest revenue possible. Work with Operations Manager and Program Directors to bring all 4 stations into the top 7 for A 25-54. Hold all radio personnel accountable to plans and goals for both product and sales while creating a unified team environment. Develop annual budgets for achieving our Operating Earnings goals. |
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS | Strong strategic and leadership skills, ability to multi-task with excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Leadership skills in all radio broadcast areas including programming, marketing, inventory management, ratings, research, and creative sales ideas. Ability to hire and motivate all personnel to achieve revenue and ratings goals. Ability to develop and control expense budgets. |
