Department of Nursing Goals
The goals of the Department of Nursing are to:
- Promote a Christ-like perspective and Christian worldview by facilitating the integration of faith and professional values into the educational process.
- Prepare graduates to demonstrate caring behaviors that show respect for the value and uniqueness of persons across the lifespan: as well as for families, groups, and communities of diverse cultural, religious, and economic backgrounds.
- Prepare graduates for leadership in the profession of nursing and for collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Facilitate students in the intellectual development of nursing knowledge and skills, emphasizing the use of evidence-based practice and critical thinking in the safe application of the Nursing Process to individual clients, families, groups, and communities.

Requirements for Admission to the Professional Nursing Program
- Submission of an Application for Admission to the Professional Nursing Program.
- Minimum grade of “C” in courses listed on the Department of Nursing Plan of Study as prerequisite to the Professional Nursing Program.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a scale of 4.0 (based on the Department of Nursing Plan of Study).
- Meet the designated requirements of a standardized entrance examination.
- Meet health requirements.
Prerequisite Courses for Admission to the Professional Nursing Program
Applicants for admission to the Professional Nursing Program will be accepted based on successful completion in the following prerequisite courses.

NURS1000. Introduction to the Profession of Nursing (2)
