For Applicants with a Bachelor's Degree

Admissions Requirements 

  1. Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution
  2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0* in all academic course work
  3. Evidence of current RN licensure
  4. Good standing with the licensing body

Application Requirements

  1. Submit online MSN application with a nonrefundable $50 application fee.
  2. Provide evidence of current RN licensure.
  3. Submit an official transcript of ALL previous undergraduate and graduate work to the School of Nursing and Health Sciences MSN Program. 
  4. Provide a professional reference using the online MSN Recommendation Form if cumulative GPA is less than 3.0*
  5. If English is not your native language, you must submit a score that meets the minimum requirement for one of the three TOEFL formats (the Test of English as a Foreign Language).**
    • Paper test: minimum score of 550
    • Computer test: minimum score of 213
    • Internet test: minimum score of 80

For Applicants with an Associate's Degree

Admissions Requirements

  1. Associate degree in nursing from an accredited institution
  2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0* in all academic course work
  3. Evidence of current RN licensure
  4. Good standing with the licensing body
  5. Completion of the prerequisite undergraduate courses: pathophysiology, statistics, microbiology, and anatomy/physiology with a minimum grade of C
  6. Completion of NNU prerequisite online undergraduate preparatory courses (or equivalent): NURS4970 Community Health Nursing, NURS4980 Foundations of Nursing Research, NURS4990 Leadership Development with a minimum grade of C

Application Requirements

Transfer Credit

Students accepted into the MSN program may transfer credits up to 25% of previously completed graduate work from another accredited institution. All transfer credits must be approved by the MSN Program Director. Credits must have been earned within four years preceding the date of admission to NNUs MSN program.

Nurses who have graduated from a diploma program do not meet the admission requirements.


*Applicants with a GPA of 2.75-2.99 may be admitted provisionally. These applicants will be required to submit the Professional Reference Form (Word  or online) which addresses their ability and potential to complete graduate study.  In the first three graduate courses, provisional students must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0. If the student does not earn the minimum GPA, they will not be permitted to progress in the MSN program.

**If a student has completed  at least 30 credits at an accredited institution within the United States, the TOEFL requirement is waived.

Exceptions to regular admission requirements must be approved by the MSN Program Director.
