Proposed Online Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Practical Theology
Northwest Nazarene University is pleased to announce the development of a largely online Ph.D. Program in Practical Theology. If approved, this program is historic as it marks a new strata of educational offerings at NNU. The proposed program has been approved by the university’s trustees and administration, and is currently under review by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. We hope to receive approval from our accrediting body by Fall 2009, with an initial intake of doctoral students in Summer 2010.
This 61-semester hour, research-based program will integrate practical and theoretical aspects of ministry with a focus on ecclesiology, preparing leaders to better serve the Church and the world as pastoral leaders and educators. “We’re thrilled by the potential of providing online doctoral studies to extend the church’s global ministry,” notes Dr. Mark Maddix, dean of NNU's School of Theology & Christian Ministries. Online learning communities launch each summer, with yearly intensives on campus. All other course work is accomplished online.
