Financial Information

At Northwest Nazarene University, we have long recognized the sacrifices made by students and their families to finance Christian higher education. This is especially true for so many adult learners who are preparing for vocational ministry, where a graduate degree is less likely to result in a direct, short-term financial return.

NNU's graduate tuition has never been cheap, but many are surprised to learn it is far less expensive than NNU's undergraduate rate. For many prospective students, an online Master of Arts degree at NNU costs less than the last car they purchased -- and we are convinced our programs will take them much farther in life!

And remember: our online programs do not require expensive travel and lodging costs associated with modular programs at other seminaries, not to mention the direct and indirect costs of being away from both the workplace and home for several weeks each year.

Like our students, we are primarily motivated by God's call on our lives. In response to this need, and in keeping with our mission, NNU employs full-time staff who specialize in graduate-level financial aid support and are able to work directly with adult students to maximize the benefits for which they qualify. At NNU, more than 90 percent of our students receive some sort of financial aid, and we encourage every prospective student to take advantage of a variety of resources by which they can fund their educational expenses, including:

  • Generous tuition discounts up to 24 percent for assigned Nazarene clergy, including a ten percent discount even for Nazarenes serving on regions outside NNU's educational zone;
  • A zero interest monthly payment plan, enabling students to spread their tuition costs across the span of their entire educational program;
  • Federal financial aid for those who qualify;

  • A tuition lock for all students who progress on schedule with their learning communities. Master of Arts students who progress on schedule from course to course are guaranteed the same tuition rate across their entire program span; Master of Divinity students who progress on schedule will only experience one tuition increase when they move from their emphasis to the pastoral ministry core, or vice-versa. In such cases, Master of Divinity students will pay the prevailing tuition rate at the time they make this step from one learning community to the next. NNU's tuition lock is unheard of by most educational institutions, and demonstrates our commitment to help our students hold down their expenses while progressing toward their graduate educational goals;
  • A secure online payment site;
  • Veteran's Administration assistance is available for those who qualify -- please click here to email us with your questions regarding VA benefits;
  • Referrals for consultations with the staff of Nazarene Chaplaincy Ministries for those pursuing military chaplaincy and the generous benefits available in the chaplain candidate programs for the various U.S. military branches; and
  • Generous scholarship support for indigenous Nazarene leaders outside the United States. Email us today for more information.

Our students often relate how God has validated their decision to pursue their master's degree through a wide variety of financial means. In a nutshell, we have found that where there is a will, there are a thousand ways. Additionally, many of our students have been able to secure financial support from local congregations and/or individuals who believe in their ministry and are willing to help underwrite all or part of their tuition expense.

If God is leading you to a Master of Divinity or Master of Arts degree, explore by faith how the seemingly impossible could become possible with God's help.
