Participation Requirements
1. Access to K-12 Students
- Must have access to K-12 students for using instructional strategies
- Must follow tutoring guidelines when working 1:1 with students
- Although some practice may take place in your own classroom, you will need to arrange for release time to work with students in another grade level or to work with ELL students for particular classes.
2. Prerequisite Knowledge and Certification
- Must hold a baccalaureate degree from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency
- Must have a valid teaching certificate
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 in the baccalaureate program or 3.0 in the most recent 30 semester credits earned
- Must demonstrate competency in written communication
3. Commitment to Online Summer Residencies
Must arrange summer schedules to participate in each of three online summer residencies.
4. Time Commitment
- Plan to commit approximately 15 hours per week for each 3-credit course – less or more depending on individual learner needs.
5. Admission to Program
- Must have been officially admitted to the NNU Master’s Program in Reading before enrolling in a course.
6. Technology Access and Skills
- Must have frequent or continuous access to the Internet.

Online courses require a computer, an internet connection, and an internet browser (such as Mozilla or Internet Explorer).
