Graduation Requirements for the Master of Education and Education Specialist Degrees

  1. Credits must be earned in courses numbered 7500 or above. Continuing education courses and non-graded courses (except ED 7598c Seminar: Action Research) do not apply toward the degree.
  2. A maximum of 25 percent of the credits required for the degree may be transferred from other institutions upon approval by the program director. Transfer credits must have been earned within four years preceding the date of admission to NNU's program.
  3. The candidate must complete the requirements as specified in the degree major. The degree must be completed within six years following the candidate's acceptance into the program.
  4. The candidate must perform satisfactorily on the comprehensive examination. Comprehensive examinations must be completed on a computer. Candidates in the Exceptional Child and Reading Programs will complete a portfolio in lieu of a comprehensive examination.
  5. The candidate must apply for the degree one full semester prior to anticipated degree completion. This allows the student the opportunity to receive an official advising guide which indicates any deficiencies in degree completion.  The student will have a semester in which to correct such deficiencies.
