INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS OF THE EXPRESS EDUCATION PROGRAM

Admission

  • Applicant must be 16 years of age, or of junior status.
  • The student must have a 3.5 GPA or ACT composite score of 18.
  • Admission to NNU is officially granted as a temporary student through Extended University Services.  If the student wishes to be full-time, he or she will be required to complete the university admission process.
  • To request an application/registration packet:  Phone (208) 467-8373 or (800) 349-6938 or email.

Registration

  • Express Education students may enroll in any 100 or 200 level course offered (Course Catalog). There is a maximum of 11 credits per semester for Express students.
  • Students must complete and sign the Express Education registration form.  (See Course Schedule for a listing of courses.)
  • A high school transcript or ACT test score report must be submitted with registration.
  • It is the student's responsibility to coordinate his or her high school and Express Education classes.  Courses taken at NNU do not necessarily count toward high school graduation requirements, and it is the student's responsibility to work with high school administration to meet requirements for high school graduation.
  • The student is responsible to confirm that NNU credits are transferable to the college or university he or she plans to attend.
  • Traditional undergraduate students have priority of classes.  Express Education students may be put on a waiting list, and will be admitted to classes that have not reached maximum class size.  The professor must approve Express Education student enrollment.
  • Pre-requisites must be met. Example:  College Algebra (MATH1300) and Trigonometry (MATH1400) must be taken to enroll in PH 111 College Physics at NNU.  The high school transcript will be used to determine proficiency.
  • A Parent or Guardian must give approval for the student's participation in the Express Education Program by signing the Parental Consent on the Registration Form.

Tuition and Financial Aid

  • Express Education tuition and fees are designated specifically for Express Education students.  In return, full academic credit will be granted for successful course completion.
  • Tuition for Express Education classes is due upon registration and is non-refundable unless class size prohibits the student from enrolling.  Tuition is $100 per credit.  Included in the tuition is a computer log-in and Student ID card, allowing access to the library, athletic events, and on-campus activities.  There is no application fee for Express Education students, however, some courses require a fee for specialized instruction.
  • Books are not included in tuition, and are available at the university bookstore.
  • There is no financial aid available through NNU for Express Education students.

Other Forms

Dropping/Withdrawing from a Class

  • Students must complete a drop slip to drop or withdraw from a course.  A class may be dropped before the 9th day of classes, and is not recorded on permanent records.  Dropping a class after the 9th day of classes is considered a withdrawal.  Withdrawals are recorded on the permanent record as a "W" and will not be granted after the Friday of the ninth week of the semester.  Withdrawals must be processed before grades are posted, otherwise the grade received will remain on the permanent record.

Transcripts

  • Transcripts are available by written request from the Registrar's Office, or online.  NNU does not charge for transcripts.
