CENTER FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN SCHOOLS

NNU’s new Center for Professional Development in Schools

  • Provides on-site assistance to small, rural and urban schools  for sustained improvement of instruction and curriculum resulting in student achievement;
  • Provides continuing professional development growth opportunities for school district adminstrators;
  • Draws from the expertise of local and national education practitioners, based upon best education practice and research;
  • Provides technical assistance and university credit for self-designed and self-initiated projects for improvement of instruction and curriculum as well as administrative professional growth.

For example, the Center for Professsional Development in Schools can help

  • elementary schools wanting to improve students’ math understanding by improving teachers’ skills in teaching mathematics
  • 5th grade teachers who want to differentiate instruction to be more effective in language arts and reading instruction
  • school districts that know they can improve  students’ understanding of physical science by providing in-depth professional development for teachers
  • principals who want to understand current, effective practices in the evaluation of teacher instruction
