This online course focuses on helping teachers work with students on key writing skills. Considerable time will be spent on writing genres/domains and organizational patterns. Specific strategies will be introduced and practiced by teachers in the classroom.  Teachers will become familiar with the writing standards and the four writing domains.  They will learn strategies to improve student writing (sensory/

descriptive, narrative, expository, persuasive, and informative), review organizational patterns students can use to improve writing, obtain prompts for writing in each domain, learn how to use technology to enhance student writing,  the steps of the writing process and best practices for each step, how to effectively plan writing mini-lessons, how to conduct writing workshops, and ways to assess writing.
