This online course focuses on helping teachers work with emergent and early writers. Teachers will learn many useful and practical strategies they can use to help young writers.  Participants will become familiar with writing standards for their state, the four writing domains, and the developmental stages of writing.  They will also learn the steps of the writing process and specific strategies for each of the steps, how to coordinate a writer’s workshop in the classroom, how to develop a language experience lesson, tips for teaching writing to second language learners, how to develop and use rubrics for scoring, resources for teaching writing, and how to connect literature and writing.
