Department of Religion
Christian ministry is at the heart of our mission and purpose at Northwest Nazarene University. During their years at NNU, all students on our campus take foundational courses in Bible and theology in order to develop a Christian worldview, apply biblical principles to the world around us, and move toward deeper Christian maturity.
Men and women who are called to a life of Christian ministry have the opportunity to follow educational programs that prepare them for a variety of ministry areas. These include Children’s Ministries, Christian Education, Missions, Pastoral Ministries, Worship Leadership and Youth Ministries. All of these programs fulfill the educational requirements for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.
For students who are certain about continuing their education in seminary or graduate school, we offer programs that do not meet ordination requirements but better prepare them in the areas of Bible and biblical languages.
Our faculty, who are all ordained ministers, bring years of experience in Christian leadership and scholarship to the teaching and mentoring of students at NNU. They model their commitment to God and the church in their lives, both in and out of the classroom.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dick Thompson
Chair
