Projects
The NNU SNA volunteers their time and talents to a variety of community projects working with organizations such as the Idaho Food Bank and the local Multiple Sclerosis Foundation throughout the year. In addition to collecting donations for medical mission trips and area hospitals, the NNU SNA also takes on annual projects. An overview of some of these projects is listed below.
NAMI Walk and The Roger Curran Invitational & Community Fun Run
NAMI, a non-profit organization that provides aid and support for individuals with mental illnesses and their families, holds an annual walk and fundraiser each fall. The Roger Curran Invitational & Community Fun Run is another annual event during which SNA club members assist walkers on the route and help direct traffic.
Nampa Family Justice Center
Nursing students hosted a bake sale to raise money for families at the Nampa Family Justice Center. This organization supports and protects women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Gift cards were purchased with the money to help mothers in need during the holiday season.
Operation Christmas Child
Each Christmas the Samaritan’s Purse International Relief organization strives to provide Christmas gifts for children in third world countries through its Operation Christmas Child donation drive. The NNU Chapter of SNA donated nearly 50 boxes filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene products, etc. to contribute to this worthy cause.
Give Me Five and Beyond
NNU SNA students have partnered with the Nampa community for several years for Give Me Five and Beyond. This community-sponsored event provides free immunizations to area children. The day is full of fun games, face painting, prizes and food to encourage and educate families about the importance of maintaining a proper immunization schedule.
