Requirements and Plan of Study
After being accepted to NNU, students wishing to pursue a baccalaureate degree in nursing must follow the recommended plan of study and complete the pre-nursing prerequisite courses listed below. While enrolled in NURS 1000, admission information will be communicated. Additional requirements for acceptance into the nursing program are as follows:
Requirements for Admission to the Professional Nursing Program
• Submission of an application for admission to the professional nursing program. Application information is communicated while students are enrolled in NURS 1000: Introduction to the Profession of Nursing (Application deadline: April 15)
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a scale of 4.0 (GPA is calculated from the pre-nursing (NURS 1000) and prerequisite courses or equivalents)
• Meet the designated requirements of a standardized entrance examination
• Meet health requirements
• Completion of the following professional nursing program prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of "C" in each course:
• BIOL 2010 Human Anatomy and Physiology & Lab I (4)
• BIOL 2030 Human Anatomy and Physiology & Lab II (4)
• CHEM 1210 Principles of General,Organic and Biochemistry & Lab (4)
• ENGL 1020 English Composition (3)
• PSYC 1550 Introduction to Psychology (3)
• SOGY 1550 Introduction to Sociology or Cultural Anthropology (3)
• NURS 1000 Introduction to the Profession of Nursing (2)
Plan of Study
To better facilitate students' completion of the professional nursing program within a four year timeline, NNU's Department of Nursing created a plan of study for all nursing students. Scholarships
Once a student has been admitted into the professional nursing program, scholarship opportunities are available through the Financial Aid Office.
