Undergraduate Education Programs
The mission of the Department of Education at Northwest Nazarene University is to be a Christ-centered unit that develops capable, compassionate educators who are determined and prepared to meet the educational needs of young people in a changing world.
Secondary Education programs lead to certification in grades 6-12. You may choose one teaching area, or you may choose a first and second teaching field. For a list of teaching areas and fields, click on the Secondary Education link.
Note: Adults who already have a bachelor’s degree and who are interested in becoming high school or middle school teachers may be interested in the Accelerated Certification for Educators (ACE) program which is offered at the graduate level and can lead to a Master’s in Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Classes for this program are offered in the evening.
The Elementary Education program leads to certification in grades K-8. The traditional daytime elementary education program includes a yearlong internship in a local elementary school.
Note: Adults who may not have a bachelor’s degree and who are interested in becoming elementary teachers may be interested in the Accelerated Certification for Educators (ACE) program. Classes for this program are offered in the evening.
