Projects and Events

You learn best by doing.  Sometimes that means students working together on class projects, Senior Projects, personal films and videos.  But at NNU, it also means that sometimes we work together, as a whole department, so students can learn what it's like to work as part of a  professional crew.
Each year the Mass Communications program produces at least two major projects: a broadcast television program in the fall, and a film in the spring.  Often we'll hire professionals in the "Key" positions to act as instructors, though the students themselves do most the work.
     Here's a look at a few of those projects . . .

Mass Comm students are also given opportunities to attend events and go on trips to learn more about the industry or particular skills.

  • Sundance - Five days at America's premier film festival
  • Grip Seminar - Professional grips give valuable experience
  • Europe Trip - Fusing art and literature in five countries
  • NAB - Students experience the cutting edge of the industry
  • The Film School at NYC - Mass Comm students teach high school students about filmmaking
