Northwest Nazarene University is located in Nampa, Idaho (population 80,000), which provides a safe, small-town atmosphere. Additionally, NNU is just minutes away from Boise, Idaho's capital city, and the advantages of a large urban area. The Boise Valley supports a number of music and cultural groups such as Ballet Idaho, the Boise Philharmonic, and the Idaho Shakespeare Festival.
NNU is also within driving distance of the world-renowned Sun Valley ski resort, beautiful McCall, the stunning Snake River, breathtaking Snake River Canyon (site of Evil Knievel's notorious attempted motorcycle jump), nearby Bogus Basin ski resort, and the serene Salmon River.
Boise was recently declared the fourth best place to live in the country, by the US News and World Report. They write, "Although often overlooked, Boise, Idaho, is a terrific destination for those looking to escape out West. With a high-desert climate of sunshine, clear skies, and four distinct seasons, this city of 200,000 makes a perfect base camp for exploring southwest Idaho's dramatic panorama." As you might expect in Idaho, outdoor recreational opportunities abound.
