Looking at the available programs is a good place to begin. It is critical to talk about your desire to go abroad with your parents and your advisor and get their input on this decision. Most programs involve immersion in cultures that will be significantly different from your own; but some programs provide a greater level of exposure to non-Western practices and ways of life than others.
