School of Education, Social Work, and Counseling

Jim Bader, Ed.D.
Dean, School of Education, Social Work, and Counseling

Welcome to the web site for the School of Education, Social Work, and Counseling. Aristotle is quoted as saying, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." Our legacy in helping students achieve "excellence" as professionals in education, social work, and counseling has stood the test of time.

In addition, Northwest Nazarene University and the school are committed to helping students achieve the four university goals:

1. Christ-like Character---NNU student will grow toward Christ-likeness: demonstrating ethical behavior, loving and respecting others, offering grace as they have receive it, building up the community of Christ, and representing Christ to the world.

2. Academic Excellence---NNU students will demonstrate understanding and appreciation of the liberal arts, expertise in a major field of study, and professional growth. Through their lives they will endeavor to reach their potential and be transformed by their pursuit of knowledge about God and creation.

3. Creative Engagement---NNU students will apply their natural gifts and acquired knowledge to respond creatively to life: producing original works of art, new synthesis of knowledge, novel expressions of ideas, and inspired solutions to problems---in the home, the workplace, the church, and the greater community.

4. Social responsiveness---NNU students will be faithful stewards of their knowledge, skill sand resources and be agents of social justices and divine mercy. Compassionately they will show love for people of all faiths and cultures and identify with and advocate for those in need---locally and globally

Each program in Education, Social Work, and Counseling is accredited by the state, regional, and national accrediting agencies. As a result, all of our programs have excellent reputations.
