Check with your high school counselor or principal to learn which NNU classes are offered for concurrent credit at your school and the registration process used at your school to enroll and pay for tuition. You also can enroll during your high school's scheduled parent information meeting, or by calling NNU's Concurrent Credit Program Office at 208-467-8373.
After registration is closed, you will be required to complete a Special Academic Petition form and submit it to the Registrar's Office requesting permission to enroll in a concurrent course. Based on the reason for the late registration, the Registrar may or may not allow you to enroll in the course. An academic petition form can be obtained by calling or e-mailing the Concurrent Credit Office.
You cannot petition to enroll in a concurrent course after the course has ended.
Students enrolled in high school Advanced Placement (AP) courses have the option of taking an AP exam. Credits are awarded by the university they attend, based upon their test score. Concurrent credit students earn the number of credits for which they enrolled, and the grade earned is the grade for the course, not the grade for one particular test.
NNU credits should transfer to the college or university the student ultimately attends. However, before registering for concurrent credit courses, students should check with their top-choice colleges and universities to be sure the credit will transfer.
Northwest Nazarene University is fully accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and of Colleges and Universities, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs, the National Association of Schools of Music, and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, the Council on Social Work Education, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The Concurrent Credit Program is fully accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).
The grade report transcript received from the NNU Registrar's Office upon completion of the course will serve as an official transcript and will contain the NNU Registrar's signature and seal.
Additional transcripts may be requested online or by written request to the Registrar. NNU transcripts are free of charge.
If it becomes necessary to drop enrollment in a concurrent credit class, the student will need to:
When a student drops a course, a "W" (withdraw) will be posted to their NNU transcript. A "W" does not count toward their GPA. There is no tuition refund for dropped courses.
The Registrar allows concurrent students to drop until the last day of the concurrent course.
