INSTITUTION-WIDE STANDARDS (finable)

1. PERSONAL WEAPONS, FIREARMS. AMMUNITION, and EXPLOSIVES DEVICES: Items potentially hazardous to members of the campus community are prohibited anywhere on University grounds. These include, but are not limited to guns, hunting weapons, live ammunition, fireworks or other explosives, swords, slingshots, pellet guns, and BB guns. (Request for exceptions to this policy must be reviewed and authorized in advance by the Director of Security, and will only include controlled University sponsored and supervised events.) A $100 fine and loss of the weapon will be imposed for failure to comply with any of the above mentioned policy requirements. In addition to the above penalty, suspensions from the institution will occur if a person is involved in any gun violation by firing or displaying in any manner, which can be construed as threatening while on campus.

NOTE: Provision can be made for storage off-campus by contacting the Director of Security PRIOR to bringing a weapon.

2. EMPLOYMENT: Working or volunteering service at an establishment that primarily sells products or services contrary to the standards of the Church of the Nazarene.

3. FIRE SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Disabling any safety device, such as fire extinguisher, fire or smoke alarms, exit lights, emergency lights, and fire doors (this includes removal of such). A $100.00 fine will be imposed for violations. These offenses are misdemeanors and may be prosecuted by the Fire Marshal as well as the university.

4. UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY: Any unauthorized entry of campus facilities, any climbing on or repelling from any university building, any entry into secure utility closets or areas housing wiring, or any other technical or campus resources is a violation of policy. Unauthorized access to roofs of campus buildings is prohibited. No entry through screens or windows is allowed.  A fine of up to $100 and additional sanctions may be enforced in conjunction with this infraction.

5. UNAUTHORIZED VISITS: In the upper lobbies and/or stairwells of a residence hall other than your own, and in a room of the opposite sex. This will result in an automatic $25.00 fine for the visitor and the host. (Host will be responsible for non-student visitors); additional sanctions may be applied.

6. KEYS: (A complete copy of the Key Policy is on file in Student Development.)

a. KEYS ARE NOT TO BE DUPLICATED, LOANED TO ANYONE, OR TRANSFERRED TO A SUCCESSOR AT ANY TIME. A key is the sole responsibility of the student to whom it is issued.

b. Use or possession of an unauthorized NNU key will result in a $100.00 fine. No key is to be duplicated except by the Environmental Services Office.

7. HAZARDOUS ACTIVITIES: Activities that may cause damage, or constitute a safety or health hazard, or interfere with the academic process.  Such activities include, but are not limited to, throwing, projecting or dropping items that may cause injury or damage; and "pranks" that create safety and health hazards for others and/or cause damage to University or personal property.
